Once you have allocated the safe space and added the fingerprint (s), when you insert the flash drive, the secure folder does not appear immediately on the device, only the publicly allocated space. Only when you put your finger on the reader, the system displays the secure folder and you can access its contents.An excellent investment.

   While I very much enjoy this flash drive with a biometric fingerprint reader, I do have to admit I am saddened that the software is not compatible with Unix based systems. It does, however, work fantastic on Windows and it does exactly what you would expect it to do. The software is loaded onto a partition of the Flash Drive, so you never need to worry about making sure the system you are using has the downloads or drivers necessary.

   Its easy to use. No problem setting up on my windows machine. Adding my sensitive docs is a breeze. You can use 10 fingerprints or password to unlock the device. Certainly, a great place to save passwords for when you don't have a password manager.For certain documents like perhaps insurance verification or some other docs, it would be good to have a USB-C drive to plug into your phone and review what is on the drive if necessary. Unfortunately, it doesn't have one.

   Device works great! You do have to read a very minimal amount of documentation to understand how it works so that you can use the encrypted drive on it to protect your files, but once you know the couple little things you need to know, it's very easy to use. The main thing is that it has both an encrypted drive and a normal unencrypted drive, so by default it will just use the unencrypted one when you plug it in and that doesn't do anything to protect your files. The encrypted one only shows up when you use the fingerprint reader and it recognizes your fingerprint. Most of the other thumb drives I've used that have hardware encryption protecting them usually only have the encrypted one, so this is a bit different from what some people might expect, but it's also a really handy feature once you know it's there and how to use them both.

   Would recommend adding multiple of your different finger prints when you set it up, to ensure you have at least one reliable fingerprint and don't have to redo the setup (for whatever reason my right thumb didn't register well, but my left works fine)Note for other Mac/os x users - you need a windows pc but just for the initial setup of the secure storage - works fine on mac after that.
