When I've caulked before using my fingers as the finish tool, the outcome has always been a little subpar. Leaves a cleaner surface with little mess to clean up. By angeling the tool a little bit, it will glide past the vertile grout line so the bead doesn't dip into each of the grout lines. Much better than taping too because that leaves a small edge where bacteria can form.
