She has hardwood floors, so can't speak to how it does with carpet, but all the reviews I read before purchasing show it doing a good job on carpet. It's not programmable beyond a daily scheduled cleaning, but has worked well for her needs. You do need to have a large area around the docking station for the robovac to re-dock itself. They recommend 3 feet.
