I have been using Algaefix for several years and have found it to be the absolute best for cleaning up filter clogging floating algae. My pond holds about 1,500 gal and 20+ fish. At the start of warmer weather, I treat the pond with Algaefix about three times and have crystal clear water all summer, only needing a touch up treatment on occasion. I recommend that treatment be stopped around September to allow regrowth for fish grazing over the winter months. Using one of those hose fertilizer sprayers makes application very easy. You might also consider getting some barley straw in the water to stop green water as it aids the Algaefix. I don't know how they do it, but Amazon sells this product at about half the price of pond outlet shops and ships it fast. I highly recommend this product for algae control in outdoor fish ponds. Just be certain to follow the directions and keep aeriation going.

I have two 57 watt UV lights on my 8000 gallon pond but occasionally for some unknown reason the water starts to turn a little green. I put one cup of this in the pond and the very next day it is sparking clear. I have tons of aeration with two waterfalls and a bottom aerator so no signs of stress at all on fish when using this. I used the recommended dosage once when my UV lights quit working when i was away. The pond was very green when i got back. I fixed the uv lights and with allgaefix it was clear the next day. Amazing! I do recommend for occasional maintenance in addition to UV lights here in the hot Florida sun. I also have a shade cloth canopy to filter out some sun. I would not solely rely on chemicals like this to keep your pond clear. Make sure you have a ton of bio balls and try to limit some sun with plants or canopy/pergola. I have learned the hard way over the years with numerous ponds to treat the problem not the symptoms.

My pond is about 2000 gallons and has a stream with waterfall leading to it about 25 feet back. There was string algae growing from the waterfalls and along the stream sticking to rocks and in 2 of the smaller ponds along the way and ALL over my big pond! It grew and multiplied like a monster everyday for 2 weeks. I finally realized that me pulling it out would not get rid of it, and bought Algaefix after reading all the reviews. My garden and ponds were going to be in the town annual Pond Tour the next day and I was so scared to use anything for fear it would kill my waterlilies. But the algae was getting so bad that I had to try... the night before the tour! Well, long story short ~ it worked like a miracle! I did add extra aeration like the directions suggestion and I could see why. The chemicals cloud up and the water gets thick in some areas but the next day it was back to normal with most of the algae gone. By the second day it was totally gone. I was totally amazed because, seriously everything was covered in the stuff and now I can't find one strand of it!

This stuff is amazing. We tried for 4 years to get our Koi pond under control. The key steps we use are: deep clean each spring, (empty, spray off sides and rocks, do not remove fish or plants) clean all filters and water falls, refill, add pond salt, ammonia inhibitor, chlorine stop, and mineral clay. Let the pond circulate for 2-4 weeks to create its natural beneficial bacteria colonies. The pond will likely be cloudy during this time but should clear up. The algae blooms when the sun and heat kick in for the season. When that happens we use Alagefix per the instructions and add MuckAway tabs. The algae will begin to loosen from the side and sink to the bottom which the filter will suck up. Be sure to rinse filters every 1-2 days until pond clears (just rinse not completely clean, because you also have beneficial bacteria in your filter system) You then keep on the dosing schedule in the instructions and should be clean and clear for the rest of the summer. There is no “quick fix” when it comes to ponds especially with plants and fish. There will always be a need for monitoring and tweaking. Sometimes we will do a 15-25% water change and add fresh water. But the main key is do not do a complete water change because then your pond will need to cycle again from ground zero and that can take 2-4 weeks. I don’t recommend using this product with scaleless fish, but general Koi and Goldfish do fine. We have a fountain spitter and water fall that provide constant aeration. This product has never affected any of my pond plants.

When you have that fast build up of algae, this gets rid of it quickly. You literally can watch it die. It does create a build up from the dead algae, but if your pond is healthy, you should be able to manage or remove the added biomatter. I am a repeat user. It doesn't harm the dogs, frogs, fish, birds or dragonflies.

Finally I found the product that keeps our pond very clean. I tried many brand named products like pool shock, algae shock, clear water solution. But every time green algae won the battle. So I was having it cleaned every year in April. And by September it’s all dark dirty green, that too while using those brand named products.

I have a small pond, as well as three water gardens. Algae has always been difficult to control, especially as the water warms. I have tried many products to control it. I have never had good results until using this. Just a small capful and waited a day and you could see all the way to the bottom (about 24"). It is crystal clear!

Easy to use, does not hurt fish or plants (at recommended dosage), I had to keep applying every 2 or 3 weeks to keep blanket weed and string algae down during the summer. We have not had (so far) green water algae, so I don't know how it controls that. We have about a 3000 gallon water feature, with lots of water plants & gold fish in North Idaho.

I have a small outdoor pond with 6 goldfish that had some pretty significant algae growth. After using this as directed for a couple days it was noticeably clearer. After about a week, there was no sign of algae and several months later, it has not returned without me doing anything special and no longer using this product since it completely cleared up.

I can tell you please ignore all of the negative reviews. This product is meant to be a preventative step in your pond maintenance routine not a miracle cure. Before this product I had tried nearly every product on the market to fix my cloudy nasty brown/green water. After just 2 treatments and a few small water changes my pond is clearer than it has EVER been.
