   Bought this for my wife's birthday and she absolutely loves it. Craftsmanship is on point, looks just like the old fashioned one my grandparents have. Only cheesy thing is the weights are actually plastic and are just there for show, otherwise it's great. I also love that you can control the volume and it has a light sensor, so it only goes off during daylight or when the lights on, doesn't chime all night.

I chose this one because it was made in Germany and real wood. I was so happy to see that it was exactly as advertised. Its very detailed and great quality. The cuckoo himself, as well as the woodcutter and the water wheel, are animated to perfection. The cuckoo's tone has a slight echo to it, as if he were calling from the deep woods!    It is decorated and attractive to the eye; the chirping sound of the bird makes an echo sound after it emerges from its home; it plays about a 15 second recording of a different song on each hour; the water wheel and the woodsman move while the song is playing. It came with 3 batteries. It keeps time accurately. Its light sensor silences it at night. The only problem that I had was setting the clock for the number of chirps to match the hour. I was able to solve that with patience over about an 18 hour period. Now, it works perfectly. It is everything that I hoped it would be. I would recommend it anyone.
