This door looks nice and was easy to install. One of the screw heads did break off while I was trying to attach the door to the coop, which made me nervous about the quality of the rest of the door, but so far it seems to be nice and sturdy and is working as intended. I tested the door on my hand and it came down slowly yet forcefully on me which had me very nervous that it could crush one of my chicks. Well, low and behold earlier tonight two of my chicks decided they wanted to roost right in the door as it closed on them… and somehow they're fine. I'm not really sure how it didn't crush them since the door seemed to be VERY strong when it came down on me… but my dumb little chicks were just sleeping there with the door halfway closed on them without a care in the world. They didn't even want to move when I came outside freaking out thinking they were dead and opened the door manually for them. So far, I'm happy with this product and I hope it continues to work as it is now without any issues.

Easy to install, it's about the size of a large clipboard , my big buff Orpington rooster got through somehow sooo....I only set it up yesterday and everyone was out this am before I was up soo... it's pretty basic no complicated things to do just cut the hole screw it on and let the sun do the work, got it a day early so that was a plus too!!....... update ive had this for a few weeks and no problems except i had to switch out the batteries (in the first week) because everyone in the house was playing with it and might have set it to some settings so to reset it i had to take the batteries out wait a min then put them back in. chickens are happy they get out of the box eairlier Im happy i can tuck them in eairlier since the main pen closes and is predator proof and they can hang out

Works just as described. Opens shortly after daybreak, closes shortly after dark. So easy to install & doesn't require any space above or beside the unit like the ones that simply raise the door via a pulley system. While this unit doesn't lock in the down position, there is quite a bit of resistance if you try to force the door to open. This is installed in a shady area & I was concerned it wouldn't detect the natural lighting properly but it has worked flawlessly since day 1. Worth every penny & my hens are so happy they don't have to wait for my third cup of coffee before I come open the coop in the morning!

Installed door that worked manually but failed to close at night. Emailed company that replied quickly with an array of troubleshooting tips. My mistake was using an infrared security camera that neutralized the door. The company told me any issues or if the situation continued to give them my phone number, take a picture of the mechanism and video if need be. When I didn't reply right away they emailed me again asking about its status and how I made out. Who does that? They stand behind their product and make themselves available 24/7. It was a pleasure to deal with a company with such integrity and commitment..

I love this door, after a nearly a year only had to change the batteries once. I do have to say I am buying a new door due to the fact I placed ours on the outside of the coop. Which was fine until our Billy goat wanted to play with the chickens. It worked at keeping him out, but he dented the fire out of the frame and door causing it to no longer open. Now we are manually pushing and pulling it up to keep the girls safe. Installing on the inside of the coop, this time since we use the timer mode anyway. I don't like the sensor lets my girls out at the crack of dawn and we still have predators roaming at that hour.

We ordered this nearly 1 year ago. This door is a life changer, we prefer to set the time manually because we have a fox friend nearby who has killed 2 flocks. Our door stopped working at some point during last fall, though we weren't paying attention because we did not have any chickens at the time (dang fox!) Last week u emailed chicken run because we have our ladies back in the coop and were getting tired of the manual, old school way. I've rarely encountered such wonderful customer service! They sent a new drive unit for our door, it showed up within 2 days! The new door appears to be a newer model and installed easily. We are so grateful!

A friend recommended this door when I was going on vacation. Installation took less than 30 min, and the door has been working perfectly from day one. It is very sturdy and safe. The only adjustment I made was the closing time. The default is about 20 minutes after sunset, but my chickens are always in the coop before sunset. It is around sunset that foxes, raccoons, and other predators can get them, so I adjusted the time to close at sunset, which is the only other setting available for closing time. I would love if the closing time could be set even earlier, but this has worked for us. Well done Run-Chicken!

We've had ours for a year now and it has worked well, it probably would have made the year on the original batteries but I still changed them in winter (after 8 months) as a precaution...then used the old ones in some kids toys. We did have the electronics fail about ten months in, but customer service was quick to help and sent replacement parts after quick troubleshooting. Freezing rain will stop it from working, but I don't find that surprising and the chickens don't tend to come out in that weather anyway. But if you get a layer of ice on things, it may require some attention to get thawed.

I've had this installed for about a year and have zero negatives to report. It is installed on a northeast face of the coop so pops open at first light. It stays open until dim twilight. It has withstood rain, snow, and heat without any issues. Freezing rain did manage to glue the door shut in early spring, but that would have been true of the manual guillotine door that this product replaced. Careful heating with a got everything unstuck again, and a simple awning over the opening prevented the problem from happening again. Very pleased with this product.

You can use their website on your smartphone and change the door schedule! I love this part. My girls are early to bed girls and I want that door closing behind them earlier too. Had a racoon problem earlier in the year. So, for safety I have it closing earlier than sunset, but after my girls routinely go to bed. This has been awesome!! UPDATE Weather proof, easy to install and 6 months later still think it is the best tool ever!! They have door configuration app now too!!
