I read the reviews carefully before ordering this item and since we enjoy strong coffee was concerned we might be disappointed, we were not. The results were a strong smooth ice coffee we both enjoyed very much. Coffee selection. We chose Costco Costa Rica whole beans which we ground at the store using the course setting. For actually brewing I pretty much followed the instructions. I filled the filter to just above the filter material (very near the top) and didn't bother to measure how many tablespoons that equated too. I filled the pot as full as I could get it with filtered water and swirled the water around 2 or 3 times during the brewing process. Total brew time was about 18 hours. I poured the cold brew through a standard coffee filter to remove the sediment and served it in two 16 glasses each about half full of ice. I added half & half my wife used Baileys. Final results were great.

Purchased my 1st Takeya Deluxe Cold Brew Iced Coffee Maker (1-Quart model) early in 2018 and it is still going strong with my year-round use of it. Hardly an iced coffee snob - I didn't know what to expect but the price was right and I gave it a try. Blown away by the smooth taste, ease of use and easy clean-up. I have subsequently purchased 2 more of these units as gifts over the past 2 years. After some experimentation, this is how I use this product: I alternate using either Green Mountain Cold Brew Alpine Roast Coffee Packs or Dunkin' Donuts Smooth & Rich Cold Brew Coffee Packs. Both products contain 4 mesh bags of coffee grounds and both recommend using 2 mesh bags to brew 48 oz of cold-brewed coffee. I use one mesh bag per quart (33.3 fluid oz) of cold-brewed coffee I am making - carefully putting the self-contained mesh bag into the strainer & filling the container with cold water. I chose to let it steep in the refrigerator for 24-hours before using it. I then carefully remove the mesh bag from the strainer for disposal and hand-wash the unit (even though it is top-rack dishwasher safe).

This Takeya cold brew coffee jug is wonderful! I know a lot of people use Mason jars, however, I wanted something easier to grab from the fridge and more lightweight (and cheaper!). I have used Takeya products before and have been impressed with their durability as well as the easiness of cleaning them. This cold brew jug has only 4 pieces; the jug, the handle, the lid, and the coffee filter. The coffee filter has an extremely fine mesh and it has not let through even the finest of coffee grounds. It is really easy to clean! The filter, after filling it with your favorite coffee (I find non-flavored coffee to taste best during the cold brew process) then screws into the lid. After you have filled up the jug about 85% of the way with filter water, you place the filter (already attached to the lid) into the water filled jug and screw it on! The coffee will have a great flavor within 8 hours, however, it is most potent by 24hrs and stays fresh up to 72hrs in my opinion. Remember, you are brewing a coffee concentrate as about 1 cup of grounds are used to brew. Mix with 2 parts water or you will... well, be like me that didn't read the directions and was up until 3am with a caffeine high, lol. Overall, I am really pleased with this purchase!

I'm new to cold brewing coffee. I needed to switch or I would have to stop drinking coffee all together and I was told cold brew was less acidic and should help. AND IT DID. But on to the product. I needed something easy, inexpensive, and that I had a low chance of ruining. This fit all of those. I was nervous about trying cold brew on my own but this made it easy breezy. I bought my regular coffee that's already ground and have had zero issues with grounds in my coffee. I put in the 14 tbsps that was recommended and put it in the fridge. 12 hours later, done. I leave it in 2 days max with no problem. I use medium roast because I have to and I was afraid it would be too weak and honesty it wasn't. I put a dash of creamer and ice and I'm good to go.

I've read several less-than-glowing reviews, and I don't get it. If you want something fancier, with buttons and functions and fill lines...this is not the product for you. And that's totally cool!. If you like glass and precise measurements, there are a ton of cold brewers that will fit the bill. However, if you're more like me, and are OK eyeballing the amount of coffee you put in and don't mind spending an extra 20 seconds slowly pouring a little water through the grounds to get them completely wet before screwing the filter to the lid and then filling the pitcher the rest of the way up with water and screwing the lid onto the pitcher (by the way - it took me longer to type that sentence than it takes to perform those tasks) you're in the right place. I add course ground coffee until the filter is about 3/4 full, and leave on the counter to steep for 48-ish hours, during which time I give it a good shake whenever the mood strikes. The grounds need space to absorb, expand and move a bit during the shaking process - so if you're packing the filter to the brim, you should not expect a tasty result. Since I steep for 2 days, the resulting brew is concentrated enough that I can top the pitcher off with additional water resulting in a full quart of cold brew that is to my liking. I
