I've had this zapper for a couple of months but I wanted to wait to review until bug season was in full swing! I'm In the country in the Midwest and was looking for a solution to being able to sit out on my deck /use the grill in the evening without having to start a smoke fire. A lot of people think you put this right near you or on your porch as a sort of entertainment and for ease of cleaning each time, but you really need to place this between the source and where you are having the issue. It will only attract bugs to you and your location if it is near you or on your deck/hanging outside the house. I found a nice spot about 25 feet away (and the directions very clearly state and diagram the best placement). I have a lot of woods around the property and the biting bugs and insects have decreased significantly on the side of the house where the zapper is. It is not as loud or as offensive lighting, as other zappers, I've seen around here. Was easy to clean as well and waiting to see how long it will keep working this well. I will update my review at the end of summer:)

As I kid I remember at campgrounds and stuff those monster sized electric bug zappers and that crackling sound of disappearing annoyances. Never figured I would be doing something similar in my back yard. This baby cooks, bugs that is, all night long zip zap and sometimes a big bug will literally go up in smoke. So what should you know, do not put it right where you want to be not pestered by as many bugs. They suggest 25 feet away on a pole or branch. I actually hung this at the back corner of my garage for weather protection and not needing an extension cord, but I am considering moving it. It works very well and I empty the bottom every few days. Watch out for live ones in the bottom when you open it. I also very gently on the lowest speed blow through it with a blower to clean the rails. Every few times it is good to reach in with the little brush. Bottom line, the bugs love this, they will even be attracted to the light glowing on nearby walls so expect bugs to land wherever the light reflects. For the price this was a worthwhile quality of life improvement, time will tell about durability. Oh and don't forget to unplug it (no switch) before moving or cleaning or you may get buzzed yourself.

I just recently was attacked by leaf bettles. Last July 4th, I had-picked a lot of them put them in a full size disposable food tray. I thought i already took care most of them because I probably killed 200+. The next day my zapper I ordered arrived and tried to use it that night. I put the tray with water and soap under the zapper. To my surprise, a lot of beetles and other bugs were in the tray… and when I tried to clean the zapper, tons of bettles were trapped inside still alive. Good thing I dumped them in the water , otherwise I would’ve released them again. I am thankful because I don’t need to hand-picked them which took me over 4 hrs (9 pm to 1 am)… I probably filled the full size food tray (floating bettles) 4 times. I can’t believe those bettles attack at night. I recently installed lights outside that’s how I found out how many bettles came at night . Thanks to this zapper no handpicking for me anymore.

THANK GOD!!! This Beautiful product REALLY WORKS! Pesky Mosquitos can be so RUDE! They DARED to BITE and harass us while we slept. We just couldn't take it anymore. Found this product and based on the reviews decided to try it... SO GLAD we did! We are now sleeping without having to hide under our covers! I am BEYOND impressed. It was super easy to assemble, plugin, and is a nice size. The color is BEAUTIFUL and soothing. Suddenly there was the annoying buzz of a lurking mosquito (and its friends), circling me. Shortly thereafter I heard a ZAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What?! A few minutes later ZAP!!! ZAP!! ZAP!!! GOT EM!!!

I used this bug zapper a couple times outside, and I could hear it buzzing as it zapped bugs. Totally as expected. We’ve finally arrived to the time of year where bugs are constantly trying to get in the door when I let the dog out into the yard, so I decided to bring the bug zapper inside. I plugged it in my laundry room (which is behind the back door) and set it on the floor. This thing attracts flying bugs like a magnet and buzzes them to their death. It’s so satisfying to randomly hear that ‘zap’ sound when I’m somewhere else in the house, knowing this bug zapper is taking care of bugs I wasn’t even necessarily yet aware were in my house! What a charm!

Used this item for 1 day just to test out and it exceeded expectations. Left it out for about 3 hours 7p-10p and it had already attracted and zapped a ton of insects. We usually get pests around the back porch, so having this in the area was great. Zapped a few moths, mosquitos and tinier bugs (probably gnats) and 1 poor bee. Went to turn it off and some insects were still on it. Word to the wise of people who are cleaning it out, the bottom twists off easy but be wary of dead and alive bugs spilling out. There were some insects that past thru and got trapped in the collection tray that were still alive so that was a surpise when a moth tried to fly at me. (Injured not dead)

Long gone are the days pruritic bumps and smacking bugs! I will no longer be molested by these winged blood stealing devils! I outsourced all that to this baby! it wasnt but 10 seconds after I plugged it in did I start hearing the sweet snap crackle and popping sounds of their demise! I've left it on for the last couple weeks and I haven't seen a mosquito, and trust me I looked! I even tried blood sacrifice! no dice. Although there was a distinct increase in crackles coming from this Death Lantern. I'm waiting to to be arrested committing mosquito genocide...

Seems like a good bug zapper to me. I really have no complaints. Does exactly what it's made to do. Not all bugs fall into the catch tray thing, some get stuck to the zapper parts. I think that's normal though, so once it's unplugged I just take a wooden skewer (shishkabob stick) and knock them off every so often. If I HAD to nit pick or offer an improvement idea, I'd say maybe an On/Off switch would be nice. All there is now is a power cord to plug or unplug, which really isn't a big deal for me, but might be somehow beneficial for someone else. 10/10 would recommend!

Fantastic bug zapper. We were constantly plagued by bugs in the front yard and the back of the house. On the front porch, tiny bugs would swarm the porch light by the door making it difficult to get in the house without a swarm of bugs getting inside and swarming around the living room light inside. Put this bug zapper by the front porch light and it was a massacre. All I heard for two nights was the constant sound of zap and pop as the zapper did its magic. By the third night, the pops and zaps were less in frequency and by the fourth, was few in between as the zapper vanquished our foes.
