This product is easy to use and works exactly as described. The locking mechanism can be tricky to open after spinning the egg but a simple way to open it is to set one end of the cradle on a counter, push down on the cradle with one hand, and then with the other hand twist the lock off.I suspect this product has a bad rating for two reasons: 1) golden eggs are VERY DIFFICULT TO COOK and 2) they are EVEN WORSE TO PEEL. If I would have known how frustrating both of these were I probably would have never bought this product. You cannot just drop the eggs into boiling water, they will break. You basically have to slowly bring them up to a simmering temperature and then cook them for 30+ minutes so the shell does not break. If you successfully accomplish this then the next hurdle is peeling them. Think of the most difficult egg you've ever peeled - these are 10 times worse than that (unless there is a trick I'm missing).

This is a practical application of a childhood toy spinner. I love the golden eggs it helps make. Be sure and read the tips and look through the recipes they provide. The eggs are difficult to peel, after being spun, so as they suggested, I simply cut my eggs in half and spoon them out. The texture is different from a regular boiled egg, which is fine for me, but which my girlfriend doesnt particularly enjoy. I also found out that after spinning 2 dozen eggs, Ive actually got a bit of a workout for my forearms too! This is a fun gadget Ill enjoy for years!

I got my Goose in the mail today and couldn't wait to try it!It seems very well made and I am impressed with the egg cradle. We have our own chickens and even the largest eggs from our older hens fit with no problem. After a few tries at getting the spin-timing right I felt like a pro and scrambled up eggs for the whole family, even our puppy got a scrambled egg with his food for dinner.My only caution is that those with arthritis may have difficulty opening the locking disk to get the egg out. I noticed that wedging one end against my kitchen counter to compress the silicone egg cradle made turning the ring much easier. After fiddling around a bit my husband found that if you can securely hold just the ring in one hand and turn the white egg cradle with the other it will pop open quite easily. I am not complaining about the locking mechanism at all however, I would much rather have the egg secure than have it fly out mid-spin.Can't wait to whip up some interesting side dishes to share this holiday season!

I love this! I used to do this with a set of black tights and it took forever to get a yummy golden egg! I am so glad I bought this!The contraption is a little hard to use at first but once you get in the groove it loosens up and is much easier to lock and unlock. Watching the youtube video was very useful.I also was having trouble getting the cords to keep spinning. Well I was pulling hard and not coming back to the middle early enough to pull again so I would have to wind it back up every time. Maybe that was just me but again after watching the youtube video once I got it down and zipped through 6 eggs in 3 minutes!I am so happy I got this! Im telling you, it is so worth it! Watch the video for help and soon enough you will fly right through making golden goose eggs :). Practice makes perfect!

Great product for Golden Egg Maker .Make sure the seal locks in place while closing. I used it a good 10 times before figuring out that it required a LOT of force to lock into place.Also, make sure that you pay attention to how long you spin the egg for, and with how much force you do/don't use.For me, I tried anywhere between less force for 10 minutes, to more force for 15 seconds. The issue arises when you use *too much* spin force, for *too long*. When you do this, the shells WILL crack once starting to boil, and the result is not pretty.The "sweet spot" for my amount of force is around 15-20 seconds.

I love the contrast in reviews for this product as well as the ability to see reviews via amazon.I bought this product to get something different, and I did (for my wife). At first I had "almost" all the same problems everyone else had. Solely I have practiced and become better at spinning, cooking and peeling. Then I l looked up you tube videos, bit of a revelation.WISH I HAD GONE TO YOUTUBE VIDEOS FIRST SO I COULD SEE SPECIFICALLY HOW TO USE THIS THING.MY ADVICE, EXHAUST THE AVAILABLE VIDEOS FIRST in regards, to cooking, spinning , peeling techniques.HINDSIGHT IS 20/20 hahaha!!!! :-)

It does what it says it does! At first I was using it completely wrong and spinning it each time in between "spins". It was a little tricky getting the rhythm going but once you do it, it's like riding a bike. I'm no pro a boiling eggs, but a little trick I learned is to put in in a half glass once it gets done boiling with a little bit of cold water. Put your hand over the top and just shake the in the glass. This breaks it everywhere and lets you slip the cooked egg right out without peeling all the shell.

Love this invention!!!! I ordered four Geese for friends and family for Christmas and the Holiday Season. It was great fun getting everyone everyone involved in learning how to use this thing! It kinda got us all together, perfecting our techniques and giving one another tips! A really good time! Takes a little practice, but it was really a hit at our Christmas/Family reunion celebration! I like the consistency and taste of the whites of a hard boiled egg, not so much for the yoke. Mix the two and you get everything. Easy to use. Not a problem getting the egg to spin, if you can't do this you need to go back to kindergarten! I could have not built a better way to hold the egg if I tried. The only issue is if you over spin the egg it is a little difficult to peel because it disturbs the skin on the inside of the shell.

This is actually the second Goose that I've purchased. I'm an egg lover--scrambled or otherwise--and I bought it for my niece and nephew. We had so much fun making "Golden" eggs that I decided to get one for myself as well. The learning curve can be a little tricky, but after 20 minutes we we're total experts. It's a really cool and durable design and I love the nifty golden eggs that it makes!
