This thing is ready to use out of the box. Hook it up to the wall or batteries for on the go.I keep the box to store it .I also love the premade slides and it comes with ones where you can make your own.Frogs blood is the pink spotted slide in the photos and then the others are my blood and a piece of dry skin.I think this is great and very educational. It came well packaged and so many accessories. It was easy to hide for a birthday present as the box doesn't say what it was which I loved.So very happy. Look no further... get this.

My 9 year old wanted a microscope for her birthday so I started looking into them. I didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on a first microscope, but I didn't want to get her a cheap piece of junk either. I got this one on sale for $86, it is a good microscope, better than the one I had in high school, so it will last her a long time. It has lots of extras which made it even a better deal. Can't review on it's durability yet as we have only had it open for a few days, but it seems to be well made and durable. I didn't have any problem with broken parts like other reviewers did, everything was in the box intact. The only thing that would have made it better is if it had come with a carrying case. I ended up getting a case for it ,it is a bit big for the microscope, but with a little creative thinking, we made it work. We have the scope in the Styrofoam it came in inside the case and the extra little boxes on the side of that.

Bought this for my 8 year old son for his birthday. At first, images were extremely blurry and I thought it was broken until we adjusted the screw so that the platform could be raised higher. After that, the images were clear and both my son and six year old daughter were having fun looking at all of the slides. The microscope came with everything that is shown including a dust cover and plenty of empty slides to make our own. We bought the Amscope MU300 digital camera with it, and that ended up being a great purchase!

My daughter asked for ohs for her 10th birthday. I was more than glad to get her it. It came packed well and had lots of extra slides so we could make our own up. I am not very experienced with microscopes but I was able to help show her how to properly use it. The glass slides can be a bit sharp on the edges so she will need my help in making new slides for some time but I am glad that we are able to discover and learn together. We received some duplicate pre-made slides which was kind of disappointing. The unit is well built and heavy for its size.

The only clear magnification we can get is with the 100x. The light at the bottom is extremely bright and hurts your eyes. I added a piece of Kleenex over it to soften it and that helps but this will definitely hurt your eyes if you use it too long.

Really a very nice microscope! Only thing I don't like is there is no storage case for this. It comes in a plain brown cardboard box, encased in styrofoam. I really really wish there was a storage case to put it in. It does come with a dust cover though. It's easy to use and has plenty of features. Well worth the money. Our biology class is going to be far more enjoyable now.
