I live in an area where clotheslines are prohibited, but I was able to talk management into making an exception as long as I put it up after every use. Installation is a little trick because you'll want to make sure that you have something very sturdy to mount it to keeping in mind the weight your wet clothing will add. I used a drill bit to start a hole when putting the mounting bracket onto my shed. I did not use the included mollys for mounting or the included screws. There are two hooks for hanging the end of the line on. These also took a lot of muscle power to screw in. All in all it is very sturdy and am looking forward to years of use. I recommend getting a clothesline support pole for the center of the line to help control the line from whipping around in the wind. The retracting mechanism is quick and does not tangle. The lines can be pulled to individual lengths and at separate times. Each line has its own retracting mechanism. I'm very pleased with the quality.

I have been using this clothesline for four years now, and I use it every week. I love having a retractable clothesline that is easy to use but is out of the way when I don't need it. It holds up well even when I'm using both lines. The line will sag a bit with the weight of the clothes but not enough to be a problem. It is important to have the lines pulled taut and the tabs are a bit on the small side so it was a little difficult to wrap the line around twice. I solved the problem by twisting the line before wrapping around the hook and then pulling it taut, as shown in the picture. I've been very happy with this purchase.

I originally purchased this retractable clothesline with the intent of hanging it in my basement near the laundry room. I was a little bit afraid of the clothes not drying completely so I put it outside on my covered deck instead. I built a single clothes line post and put that in the yard opposite of the housing unit. I have to say, I love this clothes line so much! It is a space saver and looks good, very subtle. I love that when I mow the yard I don't have to duck under stationary lines and risk, literally, getting clothes lined. I also love that I can take the housing unit off the bracket by simply pulling out the two pins. Just a bit of advice: make sure you wrap the cord twice otherwise it is not tight enough to hold clothes.

We leave it extended and rarely retract it. But when we have retracted it my wife (who is generally smarter than me) has gotten the anchoring wrong wrong and I've wondered if all of these reviews that mention a design flaw are not following the instructions for wrapping around the plastic pegs on the bottom. It only takes one single wrap to secure the lines and it really doesn't work by force but rather by kink and following the instructions to a tee matters. On the other hand it is true we rarely retract the lines.The one thing that has happened after nearly four years in the sun the lines' casing has cracked in places exposing the inner thin nylon cord. We have ordered a replacement unit in case the lines break. Still going to give this 5 stars as it has been so useful and four years in the weather being used multiple times per week is terrific performance.

This is so great. Super easy to set up. I just connect the cables to the first tree, pull the unit over to the next, put the pins in to secure it and then wrap the cable on itself to lock it from reeling out. Then I just do the reverse and bring it inside to keep it in good condition. I saved a bunch of money last summer hanging my clothes outside. I strung it almost the entire length (about 48ft for me). The max extended length is deceiving, it's about 49ft x 2 cables and that's how they claim the 98ft. But you wouldn't want to go much longer anyway because that's a lot of load on these cables. They are plenty durable, but I still try to hang heavy weat clothes on the ends first (like jeans and sweaters) and put light stuff towards the middle (like socks and under garments) if I make it that far. The 2 strings are somewhat close together, but I still use both and it works out just fine.

I have been using this for about 6 months. When I purchased this product I read several reviews that indicated the knobs at the bottom tend to break. As a result, I have been soft handed when roping and unroping the line around the knobs. I am also using this product indoors in my laundry cubby so no sun damage on the plastic, I would think this helps keeping those knobs in good shape. I do like that the housing is removable, this is useful in tight spaces. I have had no issues with the product. It works good for me, I would reccomend giving it a shot.

We have had this for about a month. It replaced a single retractable line we had up that needed to be replaced because we put in a pool and needed to move it, and we really needed more line space. Overall it seems fine and works well. We usually put most of our shirts on hangers but after reading the reviews of the plastic tension supports breaking too easily I decided use less hangers and common sense and not put all the heavy clothes on one line and just distribute the weight evenly.

I read the reviews and knew exactly what I was getting. Most reviews said the tension hooks on the clothesline itself were plastic and broke easily so I installed the metal boat ties underneath it when I put it up. Perfect! I fill both lines with clothes in one wash and they dry in our South Carolina sun in a few hours! Very happy with this purchase, saving energy, my bill, and I love the smell when they are dried outdoors!

I am so pleased with this retractable clothesline! Very well made and sturdy, easy to put up and the PVC-coated pull out and hook very smoothly. Definitely wrap the line around the spindles to make the line taut and it supports wet clothes very well. If you can, spread the placement of the retention hooks about a foot apart to create space between the lines to allow for more movement of the clothes. So happy I chose this one!

First off, this is really a quality item! When I saw it received the British Royal seal, I thought now the Brits are people who still use laundry lines and should know a good clothes line! The quality is exceptional and the price was much less then similar items produced elsewhere. It has a nice feature where you can just remove the pins and store for winter if where you live is affected by the cold.
