I pack the bowl full, so to turn the half-cut leaves 90 degrees after the first pass, I just reach in and grab everything in my hand, give it a twist, replace the cutting mat and base, and continue cutting. Only hubby and I and it is the right size. I also love big salads for lunch, so I make my own salad in here. I think you could flip over the cutting side and use the underside for a bowl if you wanted to. I have my favorite salad bowl, so I haven't tried that yet.
