   This is a great item for making chopped salads. My suggestion is, use a serrated knife and cut slowly, with a back and forth motion, or soft fruits and vegetables will be squashed. I have difficulty chopping or slicing veggies, I too often slice into my fingers. No sliced digits with this. I would give it ten stars, if I could.

   I was skeptical at first with this product. However, after a month of using it, I realized that it does save time, probably 15 to 20 seconds for each time I cut the salad. With this one, I can cut salad into bits quickly. My wife tried it too and she also likes it. Both of us are pleased with this product.

   We eat a lot of leafy greens, both fresh and cooked, and this works great to keep the leaves from scattering off a cutting board. I read a complaint that the cutting surface showed wear, so I cut a circle out of a flexible cutting mat to protect the surface. I pack the bowl full, so to turn the half-cut leaves 90 degrees after the first pass, I just reach in and grab everything in my hand, give it a twist, replace the cutting mat and base, and continue cutting. I really like the way this works, and it’s easy to clean.

   I love chopped salad and this little invention is amazing. It is good for one or two, but if you have more to feed, just do the items in a few batches, then mix. Only hubby and I and it is the right size. I also love big salads for lunch, so I make my own salad in here. I think you could flip over the cutting side and use the underside for a bowl if you wanted to. I have my favorite salad bowl, so I haven't tried that yet. If you're on the edge as to whether to try, just do it. I'm also sending one as a gift.

This is the end of huge pieces of lettuce and long strands of cabbage in a salad. I can actually make a chopped salad! I now have my husband preparing salads for dinner. I can't do without it now.    I like a chopped salad. I read other reviews that say that things don't get chopped well. I layer Red leaf or Romaine lettuce with cilantro and cherry tomatoes and add another layer of lettuce. Everything gets chopped well and nothing "runs away" from the knife. I think the trick(if there is one) is to make sure the big stuff is layered in the lettuce. It works fine for me.

   Pay attention to the diagram on how to use it. At first, I was confused about whether the cutting section fits into the bottom while cutting the vegetables. That is not the way it works.
