I bought several of these bird bath pumps and they work great. You need a basin that is at least 20 inches wide and 3 inches deep. Fill it with water. Place a few smaller flat stones around the base to prevent the base from moving. On a sunny day you will have a great little fountain. On a cloudy day the fountain does not work because it is powered by sun. I rinse the fountain every 2 days in a clean water to keep it clean and exchange the water in the basin too. My basin is light ceramic blue bowl so it is easy to maintain. If your basin is not wide enough the water will splash outside of the basin and your pump engine will burn out. The wider the basin (20 inches or wider) and at least 3 inches deep the better the fountain works. Smaller bowls will not work. I tried several sizes and the 20" or wider bowls x 3 inches in depth work best with this type of pump. I don't have video to show but will make one and post it in the spring. Highly recommend!

I purchased this pump on June 19, 2017...i have used it probably 2 weeks, and it has stopped working totally. There is no movement at all from the pump in full sun. I am really disappointed... I just got my bird bath up...picked the most perfect place for it in full sun...went out today...no pump. Ankway...now what do i do?

Not only adorable, but anyone can have their own birdbath buy just placing this in your bowl, pot whatever. I unboxed this in the shade as to not wear out the motor since it turns on in the sun. Walked over and put it in our shallow Talavera birdbath. Not rocks to hold it down. Simply place and walk away. No, it does not work in the shade or during cloud cover, only direct sunshine. We live in the desert so no problem. Perfectly packed, quickly shipped and excellent instructions. Just buy it already!

I wasn't sure what to expect, especially after reading several negative reviews. I am glad I purchased this little pump nevertheless. I bout it together with a birdbath to use as a little water feature. As soon as I took the protective foil off the item it started up. Inside the house, no direct sunlight. As soon as I stepped outside I had to actually turn it upside down because I didn't want the pump to drun dry/without water. The second I put it in water, the pump worked. It worked so well I had to take the nozzle off because the water was shooting up too high and outside the water bath. (Without the attachment nozzle water comes up a couple of inches and is perfect for the birdbath).

It works much better than I expected. In fact in some respects it works too well. It took me a while to figure out how to use it in the bird bath as it was powerful enough to put the water more than a foot upwards. the wind would blow and the water sprayed over the edge so that it emptied the bath in a matter of minutes. I now use it with out the attachments and this way it's fine. I bought a deep tub and use the attachment in it and it makes a wonderful spray. The best part is the motor turns off if there is no water or th inlet gets clogged. I highly recommend this product.

Just as advertised! I have a smaller, classic concrete birdbath, so I didn't actually use any of the attachments that came with it. If you don't have anything on the nozzle it has a nice 2" bubbling flow that really attracts birds. The extra nozzle heads are great though, but this little pump has power! I was getting two foot water streams out of the birdbath when I tried out the other attachments.

I was surprised by the quality of this little solar powered water pump. It really does move some water! In fact, you better have a huge bird bath, or expect to refill it often, because this fountain can send a stream of water 20 inches high in bright sunlight. If there is a wind of any kind, the water gets blown outside of the bird bath. The extra water diffusers is a nice touch. I drilled a larger hole in one and it makes a nice solid stream of water that is so heavy it falls mostly straight back down, even with a light wind. My finches love this thing. It scares the cardinals for some reason, although I attribute that to the Cards just being really skittish by nature. To add to what others have already said...this device is not battery powered or supported in any way. It is strictly sun powered, and MUST be in direct, bright overhead sunlight to work at its maximum capacity. If you shadow it in any way, it stops pumping. If it is partly cloudy, it will work intermittently, and with much less force. A word to the wise, keep the inlet screen clear of debris as it can be clogged by vegetation and will ruin the pump. Ours has been running daily for the past two months with nothing more than just weekly removal of random grass clippings from the pump inlet screen. Well worth the 16 dollars!

Very pleased with this product! I purchased this for use with a "Best Choice Products Pedestal Quality Bird Bath" and it works perfectly. I removed the spray pieces completely, as others have mentioned, so that it simply creates a small bubbling in the fountain, which is what I was looking for. You can have it spray a beautiful fountain spray, but for a small bird bath, the water tends to blow out of the fountain, thus making it necessary to keep the water filled more often. We basically just wanted the water to be aerated and to move to help keep mosquitos from using the bath as well as to attract the birds to the fountain. As a solar unit, it works exactly as it should. With little to no sun, you should not expect the pump to be operating. If it is overcast, it bubbles in short spurts (still enough to accomplish all the needs I listed above). With full sun, it bubbles away and is perfect. As a side note, we ended up buying a second bird bath and decided to add another Solar Bird bath Fountain Pump. We bought something that looked very similar from SOONHUA instead of Ankway and the lack of quality in packaging and materials was noticeable. The Ankway arrived in a sturdy box with instructions and the other was packaged in a very flimsy cardboard with absolutely no instructions. There seem to be a number of companies carrying this item, but Ankway is the better choice!

When they say full sun they are serious. If there's a shadow over even a portion of the disc the pump will drop to intermittent spurts or stop completely until the entire surface of the disc is getting direct sunlight. Cloudy doesn't cut it; it has to be full-on blazing sunshine. I have mine in a ~7" deep bowl and if the water level is low, the lip of the bowl will cast enough of a shadow to stop the pump. So I keep the bowl full or nearly so which isn't hard to do and the disc floats on top and so keeps happily squirting away for most of the day. The included attachments make it work as a fountain or a bubbler/water agitator. I've looked at solar-powered birdbaths/critter waterers for a couple of years now and there was always a downside. Here there's no external solar panel, no connection to a water source, no electrical connection. If it dies after a season or two it won't break the bank to get a new one. Installation can't be simpler...find the vessel you want to turn into a mini-fountain, drop in this ~7" disc and you are done.

I ordered my first Solar Powered Bird Bath Fountain Pump on August 9, 2016. I took it out of the box, peeled the clear protective film off the top, put the attachment I wanted on the pump and headed outside to my bird bath. This thing is phenomenal! I am truly surprised at how well this fountain works in my standard sized bird bath, and without the need to run wires, etc. As long as the sun is shining, the fountain will flow beautifully. Let's face it, if it's a gloomy day, we're not typically outside watching the fountain anyway, so it's a win-win! I love all things solar powered, so when I found this at an amazing price, I knew I had to have one! I've enjoyed it so much, my second one just arrived yesterday (August 27). I love that there are different attachments to suit your needs. If it's a super windy day, I change out the attachment so the water doesn't spray as high, thus the wind doesn't blow the water out of my bird bath and empty it. Just keep your bird bath (or whatever you place this in) filled with fresh, clean water and the sun and fountain will do the rest! Birds don't like stagnant water, so not only will you be happy watching your fountain, but the birds will love having a clean water source! You won't be disappointed!
