Especially since it can be hung vertically like a lantern or can be utilized as a directional wide beam flashlight simply by aiming it horizontally either by laying it down on its side or by carrying it in your hand. The nipple has a tight closure so no air tried to rush out after inflating it. To deflate the lantern, you do have to pinch the nipple together and then press. The three levels of light were excellent. This lantern's first use was illuminating a drink tent at our 4th of July celebration with friends. It worked well. I particularly like the plastic handle that snaps together making hanging it much easier
