It is exactly what I was hoping it would be. I has a pass through charging port that allows you to charge your laptop while the hub is plugged in, not all adaptors have this which means others will suck your laptop dry forcing you to disconnect your hub in order to recharge it. Thus far, I haven't had the need/opportunity to use all of the features in it but what I have used so far has worked flawlessly. Yes, it's on the higher end of the price spectrum, but the pass through charging is worth the extra money.

I've tried several of these dongle/thunderbolt hook ups and run into several issues. Some of them have this awkward short cord or take up a lot of space. Another issue with others is that you run into is the wifi will stop working on your laptop because of some frequency issue. If you are looking for one that works, get this one. It's amazing! I haven't had any problems and I love how portable it is. Another bonus is that it uses 2 thunderbolts instead of 1 which most others only use 1 and that's a lot going into 1 port. I've tried a ton of these so believe me, get this one. It's by far the best for the price.

I can now charge my laptop and connect my LG 49WL95C-W 49" 32:9 Curved UltraWide HDR IPS Monitor to it and my USB keyboard and trackpad lightning charging cable. I also do a lot of videos so love the SD card slot. It's so nice at the beginning and end of the day to just unplug on thing instead of a ton of dongles. I also love traveling with it. I have to connect the Mini DisplayPort to the 100 W USB C port and charge the MacBook using the 60 W USB C port. Connecting the Cinema Display's USB plug lets me listen to music through the monitor and use it for Zoom conferences. On the occasions when I have to go to the office, I can connect to the wall mounted TV via the HDMI port for presentations. I like the plastic spacer which reduces the ability of the hub to wiggle in the laptop's USB slots. I have had it about 2 weeks. Haven't noticed it getting hot. FYI, you cannot completely close the lid when connected but this isn't a problem for me. I just put the hub in its included case for transport.

This is just perfect as I transition to a new MacBook Air that uses the new Thunderbolt 3 (USB C) connector (sadly the new MacBook does not have an older USB port). I can plug in all my old devices and cables in without having to replace anything, including my monitor that uses HDMI. It's very trim and fits snugly and in line on the left of my Mac. It even comes with a small rubber mat for the HyperDrive can rest on so it does not get strained while plugged in. The hub is a bit pricey, but well worth it!
