According to my trainer this only trains the dog HOW to bark effectively before a shock is delivered. The neighbors have stopped complaining since I started using these units on my two dogs.

This collar is more expensive and slightly heavier, but worth the cost. The battery life is fantastic, usually more than a month! Additionally, it ramps up from vibration to beeping to static. After wearing it for a few days, even the most stubborn of the pack figured out to stop barking before the static, which I believe extends battery life, not to mention my peace of mind.

I’ve tried three other lower end collars but paying a slightly higher price for a collar that is effective is totally worth it.     6 months ago, I adopted a great little dog. But we soon started have a problem...She loves to bark! She barks birds, at squirrels, at nothing.. just yap, yap, yap anytime I let her outside or on our deck. It started greatly effecting our autistic son. He got where he just could not stand it. In desperation I first tried a cheap bark collar, one that would beep, vibrate and then shock. It had absolutely no effect on her. I decided then to purchase this collar, based on reviews. I was a little nervous, because she's a small dog at 13 lbs and can be a bit timid. I had a bit of a problem learning to adjust it properly on her neck. It had to be tighter than I would have at first thought, but once I got it right, this thing works so great! I take it off and give her breaks as recommended and take it off when she's in the house and overnight. The first shock is not so much that she becomes frightened and at first she would continue to bark and it progressed in strength till she stopped. She has now learned to not bark at all! This collar has saved us! My son is happy and I have the dog I've always wanted!
