I was a little leary of buying an item that I couldn't try out to see if it worked, but it turns out that I had nothing to worry about. He was able to see the difference between maroon and brown for the first time in his life. He could see the difference between the green and teal shirts and brown and tan pants my brothers were wearing. (We intentionally wore colors he normally could not see to test the glasses since there isn't much in the way of natural greenery during the midwest winter.) He kept taking them off and putting them on again to SEE the colors. He described it as knowing what a color was because his brain had been trained to recognize it for over 50 years, but now he can see the colors and his mind was trying to reconcile the two realities. He did also state that the glasses made everything sharper. He often has to drive long distances for work and said that the glasses would be helpful during these treks. He was happy with the tinting on the glasses. They're dark enough to help protect his eyes during sunny days, but not so dark that he couldn't watch the football game inside "in living color".

We took the color blind test at the enchroma website since we were looking into getting those glasses, and he was rated as "Strong Deutan". To him, red looks green, green looks red, and he was starting to develop anxiety at school because of his inability to see color correctly. Arguments with friends about colors, having to be helped with coloring assignments initially before being able to complete them - it really takes a toll at this age. Being that he is 6 years old, we couldn't justify the price for the Enchroma glasses that we weren't sure would work, or that he would be able to take care of...again being 6 years old. We ordered these glasses as a more cost effective test to see if they would help him - and the results were immediate when he put them on. Not only is he able to see color correctly, he is able to see various shades of the same color correctly. The lenses of these glasses appear dark, they have a reflective tint, but they don't affect indoor visibility at all. They look really cool, and my son loves them.

I was really thinking he would be one of those who reported that he saw things 'brighter' but not 'new' colors. But turns out he is now seeing lots of colors he hasn't seen before. He working with his kids to learn the names of the new colors. And, he's passing color blindness tests that he used to fail. I know these are more like Sunglasses, but, he started taking them to the office immediately so he could see the color coding on our spreadsheets. I would post a pic of him doing it but he's shy. Anyway, just saying that this version of this type of glasses is a legitimate, potential option if the color blindness is the right type. Everyday day my friend is sending me pictures of new things that he can tell are different because he can see the colors. It's pretty exciting. I was very, very skeptical that these type glasses were just a scam of some kind. After seeing the news story on Foxnews.com on November 20, 2018, I decided to order my son a pair and try them. I ordered them and had them shipped next day. My son is 14 and has been colorblind (red-green) his whole life. When he first tried them on, he didn't make much fan fare about them. BUT, I did notice he didn't take them off. We went out to eat about 20 minutes after him first putting them on and as we traveled he would call out the colors of things and talk about the different colors he could now see. We asked him to tell the colors of many, many things and he got them correct. The biggest thing he noticed was a Burger King sign and he said he always thought the words "Burger King" on the sign were brown, to match the color of the beef patty. With his new glasses, he said "they are red?"...I've been lied to my whole life and we all laughed.

Without the glasses things tended to blend together and not always make sense... I couldn't see deer in a field unless they are moving. The seasons changing never looked right either in the fall trees looked green then brown and then no leaves. I am excited to see the change now. With these glasses it was like looking at a whole new world for the first time. Honestly the difference between a VHS tape on an old TV verses a Blu-ray on a 4k TV. The frames are light weight and comfortable to wear. If they work for you be careful the first day it is easy to have input overload and strain your eyes so ease into it. When I first tried these on, I was a little confused. All it seemed at first was have red tinting. So I tried taking an online color blind test, and in the end, it said I had normal color vision. This was at night with artificial light only. But once my eyes adjusted to the color difference the next day with sunlight, it was great. I compared without the glasses on, and I can really tell in my case at least, everything was really green. I even brought it to school and let some people who are also color blind. 2 of my teachers tried them on, it didn't really help them. But for the kids that did try it on, it helped most of them. This is a great experience to see the world a better way. The case that comes included with the glasses is really nice with a sturdy magnetic close.
