Oh my gosh, my 9 year old loves this. It's a felter, not an actual sewing machine, which is why it doesn't need thread. But that is great because kids can use it without help. And when you run out of the felt that comes with it you can pick up basic felt from Walmart or here on Amazon and it works great with the machine.

It comes with 5 very easy projects and then any felt from Walmart or anywhere works to make anything you can imagine. We made a cat bed and a loot llama just for fun and all made with $.32 felt. Awesome machine! I love that it's battery operated too so you can take it anywhere!
