I am giving 5 stars because I could suck up water out of a scum pond if I wanted at some point in the future. I don't know how or why I would be in the situation to have to need this thing but happy to know it is there if I do. Zombie apocalypse, government shutdown and anarchy, terrorist takeover, being forced to drink Flint Michigan water, etc... Till then it will sit in the wrapper collecting dust. Or maybe I should buy a second one to test and do a taste test comparison from dirty pond scum water straight from the source vs this thing ';)

I bought this not really knowing what to expect. I was planning a trip that involved hiking and read many reviews recommending the product for even short day hikes (it never hurts to be prepared). I thought it to be an adventure. The life straw is very portable, can easily fit in a pack. We used it at the base of a waterfall and it filtered the water perfectly! Was cleaned as can be! PRO TIP: READ THE DIRECTIONS BEFORE YOU USE THIS. It gives useful tips for first use and what to do after use.

Who doesn't need one of these??? With water contamination occurring at alarming rates in communities, this is a quick backup for the questionable time when the local leaders tell you that your water is safe to drink while it is coming out brown out of your faucet! Right? While I did not intend for this to be a water filtrations system for home use, it is good insurance. I am looking forward to taking this on hikes, which is why I purchased it.

However, I did want to try it out at home and bought another. This is an important tool for camping, hiking, or anything you do that you could find yourself out of water. It's very easy to use and easy to pull water through it. Initially, you will need a little extra sucking power to get the water water flowing - just a little more than sucking on a regular straw. You then blow the water out and you can store it for the next time you need it.

As soon as this came in the mail, I went over to the dirtiest mud hole I could find down some back roads gravel road. I opened the package while looking over at the muddy hole of bacterial infections waiting to happen. After I opened the lifestraw, I took it out and knealed down so my thirst would subside. I lean in to get a taste of the freshest water I could have ever tasted. Well not exactly the freshest, but cleanest.

We bought these for our hurricane kits. Most of the press and reviews are positive so I’ll stick with that. I haven’t had to use it fortunately, and I don’t really feel like testing it just because I can. We bought two as a redundancy and feel better about our emergency water situation because of them. I’d couple these with purification tablets just to be extra safe. You can only carry so much water, but these are very portable.

Very lightweight and not too big tha I do not notice it in my pack. Used it one time to test it before I needed it in an emergency situation. Easy to use - put straw in water & drink. Easier than boiling and better tasting than purification tablets. Not great as a primary filtration system since you drink through this and then store it for long hikes but very useful as a backup.

Pretty great device. I've taken a sip from many a questionable water source through this thing and have never gotten sick. It's a little inconvenient to actually have to get down on your hands and knees to take a drink (unless you have another container to put the water in), but having a LifeStraw around while camping is very comforting. It's also very lightweight.

My mom planned a trip to visit my grand mother that lives in the country side of Mexico. My mom was worried about the drinking water since all they have access too is a well. Normally when we travel to Mexico we only drink bottled water but because my grandmother lived 2 hours away from a place that sold filtered water I told my mom about the LifeStraw option.

So far so good. Have not had the struggles others are having. The suction part is no where in comparable to sipping out of a straw, but I have owned other life straws and the power it takes to drink from these are the same. No one has gotten sick. We have used in the lake and in some streams. A lot lighter than carrying a gallon of water.
